Associated Terminals’ general cargo division possesses skilled operational personnel and industry-leading equipment which enables us to handle general, breakbulk and project cargos safely and efficiently. 

Our unique facilities at Chalmette, Violet and Globalplex gives us the flexibility of handling every scenario that arises to safely move our customers’ cargos.

To provide our customers with the highest level of service, we operate fourteen strategically located dockside locations along the Lower Mississippi River and have the capability to move cargo between ocean vessel, barge, warehouse, railcar and/or truck. With more than 800,000 square feet of covered warehouse space available, we offer customers comprehensive storage options and resources. Our unique Chalmette facility maintains water depth at a minimum of 33 feet to ensure a “safe harbor” to vessels loading or unloading cargos.

Cargo Handling

With seven locations along the Lower Mississippi River, we have the capabilities to unload and load cargo from ocean vessels, barges, railcars and trucks. Our main locations and services include the following:

Bulk cargo trans-loading activities take place at our midstream transfer facilities located between mile markers 158 and 56 A.H.P.

 At Violet, Chalmette Slip and Globalplex, we offer general cargo handling and storage – with a combined total of more than 800,000 square feet of covered storage and over 200,000 square feet of hard surface laydown areas. In addition, our unique Chalmette facility maintains water depth at a minimum of 33 feet to ensure a “safe harbor” to vessels loading or unloading cargoes.

Located at mm15 on the Michoud Canal, New Orleans Bulk Terminal offers a range of bulk transfer solutions to meet our customers’ needs.  Cargo handling options include transfer from barge-to-rail, rail-to-barge, barge-to-truck, barge-to-container and bagging services.  Open pad storage is available.

Our Baton Rouge terminal provides more than 60,000 square feet of warehouse storage, as well as 130,000 square feet of outside storage. This facility also offers the ability to load bulk cargos from trucks via hopper/conveyor directly to barges.
