Overview: Associated serves as the exlusive stevedore and terminal management company at Galveston Bulk Terminal, a deep-water facility that handles a variety of dry bulk and break bulk products for import and export customers. The facility is located at the west end of the Galveston Ship channel, with easy access to the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico as well as the Gulf Intracoastal waterway. GBT also offers direct connections to the Interstate highway system, and is served by the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroads.
The terminal has a deep-water vessel berth and a barge dock. The ship berth is maintained to a depth of 40 feet and has a width of 150 feet. It can accomodate Panamax Class ships up to 750 LOA with beams of up to 105 feet. The barge berth is 150 feet wide by 700 feet long. GBT receives export cargo by rail, truck and barge. Imported products are unloaded from ship to rail, truck, storage or barge. Cargoes include: steel, potash, clinker, aggregate, cement, coal, pig iron and barite.
