On-site operations expand with additional equipment

An additional Komatsu PC-650 excavator with hydraulic clamshell bucket was recently purchased from Head & Engquist Equipment to expand our unloading capacity for barge to storage transfers of bulk cargoes in the inland waterways of South Louisiana. These barge-mounted excavators are the centerpiece of each unloading unit. The units also include all of the necessary equipment, such as loaders, dozers, off-road trucks and other miscellaneous equipment, to unload and stockpile cargo at a customers site.
A commodity often handled by these unloading units is bulk barite ore. This ore originates in countries as far away as China and is transported to the United States for use in the oil drilling industry. These cargoes are shipped to the United States via ocean going vessels where the barite is trans-loaded to barges at various locations on the lower Mississippi River. The barges are then shifted to the various plants in South Louisiana where the cargo is unloaded and stockpiled at the plant for future processing.
