Russell Knight christened

On April 7th we christened the newest addition to our fleet, the “Russell Knight”, at the General Cargo Dock of the Port of South Louisiana. The crane was named in honor and appreciation of two of our long-time employees, Mr. Forrest Russell, Operations Manager, and Mr. Larry Knight, Equipment Manager. These employees were chosen as a representation of the hard work and dedication that all of our employees have shown over the years.

“We decided to share the honor between these individuals as we thought the sharing idea was very appropriate for our company. That’s what we do every day with each other …share! We share knowledge, responsibility, concern, safety information and ideas” stated David Fennelly at the christening ceremony.

The event was held at the Port of South Louisiana which is in the middle of major dock expansion project. We are very grateful for the hospitality and facilitation shown by the POSL.

Approximately 200 employees, customers and guests were on hand for the event which was followed by a reception at the Port’s 19th century “Guest House” located on the property.

Forrest and Larry both smashed champagne bottles on the pedestal of the crane as part of the formal christening ceremony. In addition to thanking the employees for their hard work and dedication on this project, the following companies were credited for their contributions: Bank One for financing the project; Coastal Equipment, Head & Engquist and Manitowoc Cranes who sold us the new Model M2250 crane; Gretna Iron Works for fabrication work on the barge and pedestal; Petronyx for the engineering work, and; Atlas Buckets for supplying the buckets used on the rig.
