Associated Terminals had the opportunity to visit with a delegation of Chinese State and Port officials who had traveled to the New Orleans area as part of a ten-day expedition to learn more about how China can develop its Inland Waterway System and increase trade and cooperation with the U.S. Gulf region.
The delegation consisted of twelve officials who visited the ports of South Louisiana and St. Bernard in an effort to learn more about stevedoring services in the areas of the lower Mississippi River surrounding New Orleans. Representatives of China’s largest ports; including Shanghai, Nantong and Anqing, were a part of this delegation.
Port of South Louisiana representatives Joseph Accardo, Executive Director, and Henry Sullivan, Deputy Director, accompanied the delegation to Associated’s main office where translators assisted Glenn Schexnayder and Ed Peterson of Associated in presenting an overview of our company and its capabilities.
Glenn and Ed also accompanied the delegation on a visit to the Port of St. Bernard facilities where they were greeted by Port officials Robert Scafidel, Executive Director, Jeff McClain, Director of Quality Control, and Drew Heaphy, Director of Administration and Planning. |
