St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District

Offering an ideal location, deep draft berths and intermodal facilities, the St. Bernard Port is a full-service marine terminal.

Associated Terminals is the exclusive operator of the Port’s marine facilities, which offer a wide range of berthing options and cargo handling solutions for bulk, break-bulk and project cargo, including truck and rail loading and unloading, warehousing and storage, bagging capabilities and screening/processing services. In addition, we place great emphasis on safety and environmental responsibility throughout all our operations at the Port.

Strategically located just five miles downriver from New Orleans between mileposts 83.5 and 90.5 A.H.P., the Port’s docks and intermodal facilities offer highly efficient dockside transfer operations. In addition, the St. Bernard Port’s Chalmette Slip, is a slack water harbor that maintains water depth at a minimum of 33 feet to ensure a “safe harbor” to vessels – and is perfect for project cargo transfers from ocean vessels to barges or to ground storage/transportation.  With extensive open laydown and warehouse space available for expansion, we can work closely with our customers to develop a customized cargo movement solution.

Associated Terminals has a multi-year lease for the exclusive use of four deep-water ship docks at Violet, Louisiana which is under the Port’s jurisdiction. The property is located on a seventy-one-acre parcel on the east bank of the Mississippi River between mile markers 83 and 84. Adjacent acreage is available for the development of warehouse, storage of both bulk and breakbulk cargo, liquid bulk and additional value-added facilities.

Our facilities also offer excellent options for transloading cargoes between waterborne vessels and land transportation modalities such as railcars and trucks.  Rail service includes direct access to many eastern U.S. cities as well as connections to all trunk line railroads serving New Orleans.
